We have come to the conclusion that the only thing that grows faster than the weeds in our garden are the chicks in the coop. It is hard to believe that it has only been a month since they were hatched. The layers seem to be growing at a more normal rate, but the meat birds have grown so much. It seems that all they do is eat. We recently had to switch to a raised feeder because otherwise they were to lazy to even stand. We took the picture below this morning. When we went out to check on the chickens, all of the layers were perched up checking on the meat birds. As you may also see, the chickens have started to eat a bit of our garden waste too. Glad to see they like their veggies.
